Land Use
Of all of the elements of the Toolkit, the Land Use concept is the one that will be the most affected by the acquisition of O’Connell Ranch. Over the coming weeks we will revisit many of the people we have spoken with over the past months and solicit their thoughts. Our fundamental land use philosophy is to ensure that El Rancho San Benito is respectful of the county’s agricultural and ranching heritage and provides a memorable gateway experience. The majority of the site will be preserved for agriculture, ranching, open space and resource conservation. We will employ compact, walkable “town building” principles similar to those used in other DMB communities. We will engage the entire community in the creation of the final plan for El Rancho San Benito.
