El Rancho San Benito will enhance the county’s recreational and cultural resources by implementing several measures, including the following:

Build and maintain a new, 40-acre all-county park with comprehensive recreational facilities;
Build and maintain attractive neighborhood parks within the project;
Create significant new community hiking paths and bikeways;
Build and maintain attractive new community meeting facilities in the project’s Village area; and
The San Benito Community Foundation is an extraordinary resource for our county. It provides funding for both large and small community organizations spanning a wide range of community needs, from recreation to the arts. El Rancho San Benito will make a contribution of $2.5 million to the Community Foundation during the construction of the project.

The Legacy Fund - Part 2

We have heard from many family farmers and ranchers that they want to continue farming and ranching their property. At the same time, they are concerned that development pressures will force them to confront the difficult decision of whether to continue or to sell. One half of The Legacy Fund described in Section 4 above, will be provided to a non-profit entity such as the San Benito County Agricultural Land Trust, for the purpose of permanently protecting family farms and ranchlands. Like the affordable housing component mentioned above, the Fund is anticipated to generate approximately $40 million for agricultural and ranchland preservation in the first 25 years of operation.
